So I’ve begun working on the upcoming Men’s collection. This is will be my first time releasing a men’s line and I am very excited. And I have many male friends who are excited as well.
I think in this day in age, we’re starting to see a serious decline in the print industry. it’s sad to say but, print is dying. with the invention of the internet and popularity of blogs, many people no longer feel the need to purchase magazines or continue their subscriptions.
Giant Robot has grown to become a cultural icon, with it’s long run publication and their gallery/stores across the country. Although the focus of their magazine was Asian/Asian American Pop Culture, the content of the magazine touched on a range of topics that could appeal to anyone regardless of your background. I remember hearing about them in high school and came to really adore them in my first year of college. I remember I, along with my friends, Nisa and Tiffany dreamed of one day creating and owning an establishment like Giant Robot. GR has had an influence on me and had a hand in making me the person I am today. They introduced me to Kozyndan‘s insane panaramics, Twinkie Chan‘s food scarves, and Barry McGee’s alterego Ray Fong. They had a huge influence in developing my love for art and design.
And now, they’re in trouble. We’ve already seen I.D. Magazine announce that they’re folding back in Dec. 2009. How many more extraordinary magazines must we see disappear? I really do no want to see GR go under in my lifetime.
Kevin just got his wig in the mail today. He will be using it for his Swayze Halloween costume. I know, it’s a little dark but he settled for it because it was the only one with the right amount of volume. It’s supposed to be a “70s Guy Wig”. I LOVE the bangs on this thing! i wish i could grow hair with this much volume. Now i wanna find an anime character with this hair for next halloween. So i can have an excuse to wear this wig.
OMG! I want this dress so bad! It’s absolutely adorable! This is one of Leanne Marshall‘s new pieces. As you may know, Leanne was the winner of Project Runway Season 5. You can see what other amazing things she’s up to on her blog.
So I’ve been a little behind on completely some consignment requests. Specifically, the batch of Bow Beat Fingerless Mittens I was supposed to send off to Habit 2 weeks ago. So I finally got a chance to catch up and finish up. Habit’s getting some new unreleased colors.
Also, the Marigold+Charcoal pair are currently on Habit’s What’s New page. These are exciting times. It’s good to see that things are finally going somewhere.
Don’t forget! Flock Shop is currently the only shop that carries my speech bubble pins and barrettes. They’ve been doing quite well. So well that I can hardly keep up with production.
Not in LA? No Prob. Once I catch up with a few things, they’re be back in my etsy in limited supply. Why are they limited? Because I have a plan for version 2.0 and I would actually like to have time to execute that plan. Trust me, version 2.0 will be awesome!
I’m excited for this fall! I’m doing consignment with Flock Shop LA and Habit in Chicago. And I’m looking forward to creating a whole new line of accessories! I might also be retiring some old favorites too.
But in the mean time, here’s a peek of what’s to come.
Here are the Bow Beats Fingerless Mittens in Cactus + Coral
You can find these and many others in my store now.
